However, when she was 21 years old, Handler decided to pursue stand-up comedy full time, since she discovered her storytelling talents. Handler began her professional career being a part of the only female Oxygen cast, which was a part of a television show named Girls Behaving Badly. The show was renowned for its hidden camera and practical joke. The show ran from 2002 until 2005. Handler began appearing on other shows like Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler is also a correspondent for The Tonight Show. Handler got her big break in 2006 when she started hosting her own show on E! called The Chelsea Handler Show. The show ran over two years. Handler continued her stand-up career by appearing in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour, in the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all aired her stand-up shows. In 2010, she was confirmed as host of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. She became only the second woman ever to host the VMAs after Roseanne Bar.
